History
We have a proud company history beginning in 1874 with the mutual insurance movement in the Midwest. Few insurance companies would insure risks in the new frontier, so neighbors banded together to mutually insure each other's property against fire and windstorms. Their promises helped create the Home Mutual Insurance Company in Missouri. In 1889, Mr. Henry F. Stapel, a German immigrant, formed The Missouri Farmers Mutual Tornado, Cyclone and Windstorm Insurance Company in Rock Port, Missouri, providing coverage with other policies issued by local fire insurance companies. In 1897, he also formed the Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company to fill a similar need for crop insurance.
Today, our rich company heritage can be seen all across the country, as we currently have licenses in over 30 states and policyholders in 19 states. Please give your independent insurance agent a call to experience the unwavering commitment to service and fairness as so many customers have over the years.
