Condos
If you own a condominium, your condo association has a master policy that insures the building's structure and common areas that are collectively owned by the unit owners. However, each unit's interior construction, including permanently attached fixtures and improvements as stated in the by-laws, it is the responsibility of the condo owner. Additionally, if your condo is damaged it is up to you to make the required repairs. You can add valuable personal property like jewelry, paintings, boats or other personal property you own.
With Condominium insurance, sometimes referred to as an HO6 policy, your belongings, structural parts of the building that you own and improvements, additions or alterations to your unit are covered as well as if someone is hurt in your dwelling.
